Discrimination is not good for business: discuss

As well as being ugly, discrimination is arguably not good for business.

Picking out a person’s characteristic, such as their age, sex, skin colour etc and then choosing against them, is illogical. It ignores their actual skills and potential.

But why do we do it? Why discriminate? One reason is fear. We prefer our own group, type, age or whatever it is. Maybe it’s the “old boys network”.

Surely by discriminating unfairly, we narrow our choices; we reduce the pool of talent and the potential improvement in our business. Fear overtakes logic?
